Ekiti PDP figure backs Oyebanji-led effort for Tinubu in 2027

Dr Oluwole Oluyede, the Peoples Democratic Party candidate in the June 20 Ekiti State governorship election, has said he will work with Governor Biodun Oyebanji to pursue a landslide victory for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election. Oluyede, convener of the Oluyede Progressive Alliance for Renewed Hope Agenda, made the commitment on Friday in Ikere Ekiti while receiving a courtesy visit from Oyebanji. A statement made available in Ado Ekiti on Saturday reported his remarks.

He said continuity was needed for Tinubu to continue what he described as his good works. Oluyede also praised Oyebanji, calling him a “fantastic gentleman” and saying the governor was working towards a greater and more prosperous Ekiti. Oluyede attributed particular importance to the governor’s work on security, infrastructure and human capital development.

He said security in the state had improved because of sustained commitment and investment in the sector. He said the two men also wanted to support free, fair and credible general elections and to secure the state further. Oluyede described their relationship as longstanding, saying they had once belonged to the same party, later diverged politically, but remained friends.

Oyebanji thanked Oluyede for his interest in Ekiti’s progress. He said their collaboration was based on a shared desire to promote sustainable development and improve residents’ wellbeing. The governor said their conversations consistently focused on advancing the state and finding lasting solutions to its challenges.

He described Oluyede as one of the most committed Ekiti indigenes he had met and said residents would see the outcome of their collaboration in the coming days.
