The Accord Party in Ogun State has unveiled a 13-member campaign council ahead of the 2027 governorship election and promised to create 550,000 jobs if its candidate, Olaniyi Agbongboakala, wins. The council was presented at the party’s state secretariat on Friday. State chairman Rotimi Oke said it would coordinate Accord’s campaign activities across Ogun.
He described the party as an alternative to other political parties preparing for the election and accused the All Progressives Congress-led state government of poor performance. Agbongboakala will chair the council, while Oke will serve as vice-chairman. Toyin Azeez was named director-general, Dasaolu Babatunde deputy director-general and Ayodeji Daodu secretary.
Other members include Fatai Adejare Salaudeen, director of protocols; Olufemi Sodipo, director of logistics, operations and mobilisation; Abdulrohim Olowu, director of special duties; Samson Abiodun Falodun, director of new media and communication; and women and youth mobilisation officials. Oke urged the members to mobilise support across the state. Agbongboakala said an Accord administration would focus on road rehabilitation, education, healthcare, poverty reduction and youth empowerment.
He said the party had a template for creating 550,000 jobs in four years through the blue, circular and green economies, as well as the real sector and creative industries. He also promised that pensioners would receive gratuities within 90 days of retirement and that workers would receive improved remuneration. The candidate announced a “Light Up Project”, beginning with 300 solar-powered streetlights, with 100 planned for each of Ogun’s three senatorial districts.
At the event, Accord honoured retired traffic officer Hanifat Bello for 35 years of service. She received an Award of Excellence, cash and a deep freezer.
