Jyothi Surekha won compound archery team gold with Chikitha Taniparthi and Prithika Pradeep after India defeated China 238-234. The result equalled the world record, the report said.
Ganesh also helped India win the men’s compound team title alongside Kushal Dalal and Sahil Jadhav. The Indian team edged China 238-237 after defeating South Korea in the semi-final. Ganesh later secured an individual compound bronze by beating Vietnam’s Cong Duc Dang 149-144.
He had been defeated by South Korea’s Kim Jongho in the semi-final. The men’s badminton team, including Andhra Pradesh players Satwiksairaj and Srikanth, won bronze after India lost 3-1 to China in the semi-final at Ichinomiya. The Sports Authority said every member of the squad received a medal.
The results added to Jyothi Surekha’s Asian Games record. Her latest gold was described as her sixth medal across four consecutive editions: four golds, one silver and one bronze. Officials, including President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Andhra Pradesh leaders, congratulated the archers and praised their performances.
