Lagos Assembly speaker Obasa launches APC campaign for 2027 polls

Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker Mudashiru Obasa has urged Agege residents to mobilise support for APC candidates ahead of the 2027 elections. At a campaign rally in Orile Agege, he called for outreach to households, markets, artisans, religious groups and community organisations while urging supporters to avoid conflict.
Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker Mudashiru Obasa has urged residents of Agege Federal Constituency to mobilise support for the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 general elections. Obasa, who is also the APC House of Representatives candidate for the constituency, made the call on Wednesday at a party mega rally at Amoo Field, Orile Agege. The event formally marked the launch of the party’s campaign in the constituency.
According to a statement issued by the campaign director-general, Pastor Johnson Babatunde, Obasa asked supporters to take the campaign to households, markets, artisan groups, places of worship and community associations. He said the party should convert its numerical strength in Agege into increased electoral support and urged members to surpass their previous votes. He also called on supporters to back President Bola Tinubu, Lagos governorship candidate Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, Senator Idiat Oluranti Adebule and himself.
Traditional and religious leaders, APC officials, trade associations, artisan groups and representatives of non-Yoruba communities attended the rally. Obasa described the turnout as evidence of the party’s strength and cohesion in Agege. He urged party members not to be distracted by criticism, reports or rumours from opponents.
At the same time, he appealed to political actors and supporters to maintain peace throughout the campaign and election period. “Nobody can force anyone on the people,” he said, arguing that voters would ultimately choose their representatives. Local APC leaders also called for mobilisation behind the party’s candidates, including those contesting the Agege state constituencies.
The chairmen of Agege and Orile-Agege local governments expressed confidence in the candidates and said their areas would support the party in the 2027 elections.
