Andhra Pradesh extends voter-roll revision again, sets October 16 final publication
India’s Election Commission has extended Andhra Pradesh’s Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls for a third time. Claims and objections will now be processed until October 10, with the final roll scheduled for publication on October 16. The exercise involves more than 46,000 booth-level officers and 68,000 party agents.
The Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in Andhra Pradesh has been extended for a third time, with the final voter list now scheduled for publication on October 16, 2026. Chief Electoral Officer Vivek Yadav announced the revised timetable in a press release. The disposal of claims and objections under the notice phase will continue until October 10.
The revision began formally on May 14 after the Election Commission announced the third phase of the exercise. July 1, 2026, was set as the qualifying date for the roll. Following house-to-house enumeration by Booth Level Officers, the draft electoral roll was published on July 31.
It contained 3,71,38,182 registered voters, after which claims and objections were invited. The original schedule set August 30 as the last date for claims and objections and September 22 for publication of the final roll. The first extension moved those dates to September 10 and October 3 respectively.
A second revision extended the claims process to October 5 and set October 9 for publication. Under the latest timetable, objections will be handled until October 10 and the final roll will be issued a week later. The exercise involves 46,397 Booth Level Officers across Andhra Pradesh and 68,868 Booth Level Agents appointed by political parties.
They are processing applications and objections submitted through Forms 6, 7 and 8. Officials are also examining cases categorised as “No-Mapping” and “Logical Discrepancy”. Such cases require hearings and verification as part of the review.
The repeated extensions are intended to give the electoral administration more time to process pending applications, objections and administrative backlogs. The authorities have said the verification process is intended to prevent eligible voters from being left out. The final roll is now due to be published on October 16, after the completion of the claims and objections process.
