Nigerian Army troops killed 16 terrorists and recovered weapons and ammunition during operations in Adamawa State, according to the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation Hadin Kai. The operations took place between September 30 and October 1, 2026, in the Boima general area of Gombi Local Government Area and other locations within Sector 4, the task force said in a statement attributed to its acting military information officer, Mohammed Goni. Troops reportedly ambushed a terrorist enclave in Boima.
A subsequent search recovered three AK-47 rifles, two pump-action rifles, one Dane gun, six AK-47 magazines and a belt of pump-action cartridges. The Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai also conducted a strike after an intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance platform detected about 16 terrorists and 15 motorcycles beneath a tree canopy in Sector 4. The military said the target was engaged at about 5:30 a.m.
and that a later assessment confirmed its destruction. Some surviving terrorists reportedly fled. The task force said troops separately repelled coordinated attacks on military positions at 226 Battalion in Garkida and 232 Battalion in Garaha.
The attackers withdrew after encountering the troops’ response. Three soldiers were killed during the fighting, according to the military. It said wounded personnel had been evacuated and were receiving treatment in stable condition.
Follow-up exploitation and mop-up operations were continuing in the affected areas. The Theatre Command said the actions were part of efforts to improve coordination between land and air forces and restrict terrorists’ ability to operate across the North East. The command urged residents to remain vigilant and provide timely, credible information to security agencies while the operations continue.
