Andhra Pradesh government plans to develop Kurnool as sports hub

Andhra Pradesh Industries and Commerce Minister T.G. Bharath has said the government is aiming to develop Kurnool into a sports hub. Bharath made the statement on Wednesday while inaugurating a football ground at the Kurnool Outdoor Stadium.

The ground was developed as part of works costing ₹3.50 crore, although some additional works remain in progress. The minister said the government was committed to providing world-class facilities for sportspersons. He cited work on courts for volleyball, pickleball, football and kabaddi, as well as the installation of a synthetic walking track.

Bharath said special attention was being given to sports infrastructure and athletes’ facilities. He also said the TGV family had consistently supported and cooperated with sports development in Kurnool. The minister said a proposal to relocate the city’s sports hostel had been stalled and that issues relating to the gym centre had been resolved.

He also urged media representatives to use social media extensively to publicise government development initiatives. Bharath said development activities were progressing across the State under Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

He called on the public to support the alliance government in the upcoming elections. The minister interacted with players at the stadium and inaugurated an exhibition match by kicking a ball. Municipal Commissioner Challa Obulesu, sports coaches, presidents of sports associations and players attended the event.
