Radda signs Katsina’s ₦828.58bn budget for 2027

Katsina Governor Dikko Radda has signed the state’s 2027 Appropriation Bill into law, approving a budget of ₦828,578,844,091.48 for the coming year. The bill provides ₦190,726,262,820.44 for recurrent expenditure and ₦637,852,581,271.03 for capital expenditure, according to figures presented by the Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Nasiru Daura. The signing ceremony took place at the Red Chamber of the Katsina Government House on Wednesday.

Radda commended the Assembly for considering and passing the bill within a limited timeframe. The governor said the budget passed through a three-stage process. It began as a people’s budget, was defended by ministries, departments and agencies, and was then scrutinised and approved by the Assembly in accordance with its constitutional responsibilities.

Radda urged government agencies to implement projects and programmes promptly, with attention focused on priorities that would directly improve living conditions. The Speaker said the Assembly remained committed to supporting the APC-led administration and called on residents to support the government’s development plans. The governor had launched ward-level town hall meetings in July to gather citizens’ views for the 2027 budget.

He said projects identified during earlier consultations were already being implemented in road infrastructure, agriculture, healthcare, education, water supply, youth empowerment, social protection, community development and security support. He added that sustainable development required active public participation.
