Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has announced that quantum computing operations will begin in Amaravati on February 3, 2027, in collaboration with IBM, TCS and L&T. He also outlined plans for a quantum hardware ecosystem, a ₹500 crore deep-tech fund and expanded AI training across the State.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has announced that quantum computing operations will begin in Amaravati on February 3, 2027, in collaboration with IBM, TCS and L&T. He made the announcement at the Pan-IIT Andhra Pradesh Summit in Vijayawada.

Mr. Naidu said the State aimed to develop from a consumer of quantum technology into a producer and exporter of quantum hardware systems. He said a 156-qubit quantum system was expected to arrive, while quantum testbeds had already begun functioning in Amaravati.

The Chief Minister also inaugurated Q-Shiva, described as a mini quantum test laboratory comprising five quantum computers. He called for IIT-style laboratories to be established in local educational institutions and said the government had taken steps to create a Sovereign AI Stack. A further announcement at the summit was the proposed formation of a Pan-IIT World Council in Amaravati.

According to Mr. Naidu, the council would help guide curriculum reforms, encourage startups, provide mentorship and support Andhra Pradesh’s ambition to become a global knowledge hub. The State government also plans to establish a ₹500 crore venture fund corpus for deep-tech startups.

Other proposals included a Global IIT Mentor Network, an IIT Technology Transfer Pipeline and a DeepTech Policy Package. Mr. Naidu said Andhra Pradesh would seek to supply 50 lakh AI professionals, or five million, in line with a national target of preparing one crore AI professionals.

He cited an 18% increase in GST revenue through the adoption of AI as an example of the potential of related technologies. The summit, organised by PanIIT Alumni India, brought together IIT representatives, policymakers, industry leaders, investors, academics and technology experts. The event focused on developing a long-term technology and innovation roadmap for the State.
