Andhra Pradesh Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav is scheduled to inaugurate 264 newly constructed Village Health Clinic buildings in 24 districts on October 6, the Health Department said. The Minister will attend the ceremony at Janardhanapuram village near Gudivada in Krishna district. The remaining buildings will be inaugurated virtually, according to a department release.
Krishna has the largest allocation, with 42 buildings, followed by Anantapur with 29 and Kurnool with 27. Bapatla has 18, Palnadu and Prakasam have 14 each, and NTR, Markapuram and Nellore have 13 each. The buildings have been constructed at a cost of ₹103.16 crore.
The State government has undertaken construction of 4,472 Village Health Clinic buildings and allocated ₹1,128.02 crore for the programme. The Health Department has set December 2026 as the deadline for completing 2,750 buildings. The facilities are also known as Ayushman Arogya Mandirs.
Many Community Health Officers have been operating from rented buildings and, according to the report, paying ₹3,000 to ₹4,000 from their own pockets each month. Government premises had been among their main demands during protests in 2024 and 2025. Village Health Clinics, also called Health and Wellness Centres, were introduced by the Union government under the National Health Mission in 2018 to extend primary healthcare.
The guidelines provide for one centre for every 5,000 people. Each facility is staffed by a Community Health Officer or mid-level healthcare provider, an auxiliary nurse and three or four ASHA workers. Andhra Pradesh has more than 10,000 Village Health Clinics.
The source material does not specify the services to be offered in each newly completed building or the number of clinics that remain in rented premises. The October 6 inauguration is part of the State’s larger construction programme.
