The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation plans to install and commission 100 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems in buses across 17 divisions between November 2026 and October 2027. The technology will monitor road hazards, driver fatigue and distraction, while connecting safety alerts and video records to a cloud-based platform.

The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation plans to install Advanced Driver Assistance Systems in 100 buses across the State to improve road safety and monitor driver behaviour. According to KSRTC officials, installation and commissioning are expected to take place between November 2026 and October 2027. The systems will be deployed across 17 KSRTC divisions.

The equipment will combine cameras, sensors, GPS and connectivity features. It will include a forward-facing road camera and a driver-monitoring camera, along with other hardware for observing the bus’s surroundings. The system is designed to identify possible forward collisions, lane departures, pedestrians, inadequate distance from vehicles ahead and other hazards.

Drivers will receive visual, audible and buzzer warnings when risks are detected. The driver-monitoring component will look for signs of drowsiness and distraction, including yawning, prolonged eye closure, mobile-phone use, driver absence and certain changes in posture or attention while the bus is moving. The units will have 4G LTE connectivity and GPS/NavIC support.

Vehicle and event information will be transmitted for monitoring and analysis, while onboard storage will retain video and event data. KSRTC plans to connect the systems to a cloud-based fleet-management and analytics platform. Authorised personnel will be able to monitor vehicles, examine alerts and retrieve footage linked to incidents such as sudden braking, collision warnings or driver-related safety events.

The tender requires the selected agency to supply, install and commission the systems. It also requires three years of comprehensive warranty support and the availability of spare parts for at least 10 years. The Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation has separately announced a pilot involving 50 buses.
