Bihar orders closer coordination on India-Nepal border security

Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has called for closer coordination among security and investigative agencies along the India-Nepal border. He issued the direction during a high-level meeting on border security, management, law and order and the prevention of illegal activities. Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary attended.
Choudhary said the Sashastra Seema Bal, Bihar Police and central agencies must share information and work together to control illegal activity in the sensitive border region. He ordered special vigilance against infiltration, forged documents, counterfeit currency, drug trafficking and other crimes. Banks in border areas were told to have machines capable of detecting counterfeit notes and to act on suspicious transactions and dubious accounts.
The Chief Minister also directed authorities to hold monthly coordination meetings involving district magistrates, police officials and central agencies. Officials were asked to identify unregistered religious sites and act according to existing laws. He said security should be strengthened alongside educational facilities in border areas.
District magistrates and police chiefs from border districts joined the meeting by video conference.
