BJP president links public trust to party’s electoral confidence

Bharatiya Janata Party president Nitin Nabin has attributed the party’s confidence in future electoral victories to trust he said had been earned through public service. Addressing a ‘Seva Sankalp Sabha’ at Dadiya near Jaipur on Friday, Nabin responded to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s remarks about the BJP’s repeated returns to power. He said the party’s confidence came from serving people, winning their trust and working for them.

Nabin said improvements in people’s lives translated into support and votes for the BJP. He pointed to welfare measures implemented by the BJP-led Union government, including direct benefit transfers. He said more than 40 million houses had been built for poor people, toilets had been constructed for 120 million poor families and 7.5 million street vendors had benefited from the PM SVANidhi scheme.

These figures were presented by Nabin in his address. The BJP president also praised the party’s performance in Rajasthan’s recent urban local-body elections. He described the results as evidence of the development agenda associated with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma.

Nabin said electoral victories should be treated as opportunities to serve rather than simply as means of gaining power. The event marked the 110th birth anniversary of Deendayal Upadhyaya, a leader of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, the BJP’s predecessor. Later, Nabin attended a youth dialogue in Jaipur and chaired an organisational meeting with BJP MPs, MLAs and divisional office-bearers at the chief minister’s residence.

According to party sources, the meeting discussed organisational matters and strategies for the forthcoming Panchayati Raj elections.
