Court remands KC Luxury and two others as bail ruling is delayed
A Lagos Federal High Court has ordered the continued detention of influencer KC Luxury and two co-defendants after they pleaded not guilty to a 22-count charge. The NDLEA alleges cocaine trafficking, money laundering and related offences; the allegations have not been proved.
A Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the remand of social media influencer Afolabi Kazeem Michael, known as KC Luxury, and two other defendants pending a ruling on their bail applications. Justice Musa Kakaki made the order after the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency arraigned the three men on a 22-count charge involving alleged drug trafficking, money laundering and related offences. All three pleaded not guilty.
The defendants are Kazeem, Boniface Freeman Ochoche Sule and Ikechukwu Ekugo Patriarch. Prosecutors allege that they conspired with two other people, identified in the charge as Atandare Oladipupo Oluwarotimi and Latifat Yusuf, to export 184.5 kilogrammes of cocaine to the United Kingdom in five consignments. The prosecution alleges that Kazeem arranged for a logistics operator to facilitate the shipments and transferred N13.2 million as payment.
It also accuses him of moving large sums through companies and bank accounts to conceal the alleged source of funds. Several counts involve alleged transfers ranging from N50 million to N924.24 million and N790.35 million. The prosecution further alleges that N528.5 million was sent to a motor company for vehicles bought with proceeds of unlawful activity, while another count concerns an alleged N1.035 billion transfer for motor vehicles.
Kazeem is also accused of acquiring vehicles and landed property between 2024 and August 4, 2026, knowing or having reason to know that they were linked to unlawful proceeds. The allegations are contained in the charge and remain to be tested in court. Prosecutor Ibrahim Abu asked the court to remand the defendants and set a trial date.
Defence lawyers sought bail, with Kazeem’s counsel also citing health grounds and submitting supporting documents. The prosecution opposed bail. Justice Kakaki fixed October 2 for a ruling and ordered that the defendants remain in custody until then.
Kazeem was arrested on August 13 at Lagos airport, allegedly while attempting to travel to Paris.
