The Dangote Petroleum Refinery ended August with 630.9 million litres of petrol, diesel and aviation fuel, while Nigeria’s average daily petrol imports fell 26 per cent during the month. Domestic receipts rose and accounted for most petrol entering the market, according to the NMDPRA.

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery ended August with 630.9 million litres of refined products in storage, according to the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority. The inventory included 360.4 million litres of petrol, 137.2 million litres of diesel and 133.3 million litres of aviation fuel. The figures were contained in the regulator’s August 2026 sector factsheet.

Average daily petrol imports fell 26 per cent from 19.7 million litres in July to 14.6 million litres in August. Domestic petrol receipts rose 39 per cent from 25.8 million litres a day to 35.9 million litres. The Dangote refinery accounted for about 71 per cent of total petrol receipts, supplying almost 36 million litres daily.

It produced an average of 41.94 million litres of petrol each day, supplied 35.87 million litres domestically and exported 9.73 million litres. Diesel imports fell 84 per cent to 1.3 million litres daily, while petrol consumption declined 14 per cent to 41.5 million litres daily. Petrol stock sufficiency improved marginally to 22.9 days.

The regulator said none of the state-owned refineries in Port Harcourt, Warri and Kaduna recorded production in August. Dangote has previously warned that continued imports could leave it holding excess stock and force exports.
