Edo APC sets 2.5 million-vote target for Tinubu in 2027

Edo Governor Monday Okpebholo and the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress have launched another mobilisation effort ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the party setting a target of 2.5 million votes for President Bola Tinubu. Okpebholo spoke on Tuesday at an APC rally in Ologbo Wards 9 and 10 in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area, according to a statement issued by the Edo State Government on Facebook. He presented the party’s candidates for the Senate, House of Representatives and state House of Assembly.

The candidates were identified as Ogbeide Ihama for the Senate, Felix Igbinovia for the House of Representatives and Clement Ikponmwonsa for the House of Assembly. Okpebholo said the APC had established a strong structure across Edo and was prepared for the elections. He said the mobilisation exercise was intended to strengthen the party at grassroots level and secure support for its candidates.

The governor urged members to remain united and committed to the party’s programmes, while asking supporters to work towards victory for the candidates. Okpebholo also thanked residents for supporting his administration and said his government would continue working for the development of the state. He acknowledged those who attended the rally despite rainfall and expressed confidence that the APC could consolidate its support across Edo.

State APC chairman Jarrett Tenebe said the party leadership had started mobilisation across all 18 local government areas to meet the 2.5 million-vote target for Tinubu. He said the governor and his deputy, Philip Shaibu, had been visiting communities and engaging party members. Sunny Ogbewe, the APC chairman in Ikpoba-Okha, said the governor’s visit had improved members’ morale.

He described the local government as one of the areas with the highest number of registered voters in the state and said the party would continue engaging residents ahead of the elections.
