The previous dates were October 3 for Andhra Pradesh and October 7 for Meghalaya. The commission also extended the period for filing claims and objections in Andhra Pradesh until October 10. In Delhi, block-level officers have begun visiting homes to collect documents from voters who received notices. The commission had also decided to create a committee led by a senior deputy election commissioner, with an independent IIT or IIIT expert, to review the ECINet portal used to manage electoral rolls. The committee’s stated purpose is to address concerns about centralisation of the portal.
