Hong Kong woman arrested after footage appears to show boy pushed into railing

Hong Kong police have arrested a 44-year-old woman on suspicion of child abuse after dashcam footage appeared to show her pushing a boy into a roadside railing. A police spokesman said the woman was arrested on Friday afternoon in the Western district after officers became aware of the widely circulated video. She was later released on bail.

The footage, seen by the South China Morning Post, shows the woman leaving a private car on Wan Chai Road near Burrows Street, followed by a boy. The woman is then shown holding the boy around the waist as they move towards the pavement beside the road. She appears to push him towards a metal roadside railing, after which he falls to the ground.

The video shows the woman picking the boy up by his hand before the two continue towards the pavement.
