JAMB and EFCC urge Nigerians to sustain nation-building efforts

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission have marked Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary with messages focused on national progress. JAMB highlighted technological change in examinations, while EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede called for reforms to be matched by firm opposition to corruption.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission have urged Nigerians to sustain efforts towards national development as the country marks its 66th Independence Anniversary. In a message shared on Thursday, JAMB reflected on Nigeria’s changes since independence, linking the country’s development to advances in technology. The board pointed to its own shift from paper-based examinations to computer-based testing as an example of that transformation.
“From pen and paper to keyboards and screens, Nigeria has evolved, and JAMB has evolved with her,” the board said. JAMB described Independence Day as an opportunity to recognise the country’s achievements while considering what remained possible in the future. It wished Nigerians a happy Independence Day.
EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede also said Nigeria had made substantial progress in nation-building since gaining independence. He said independence had given citizens liberty and self-determination, adding that the country was continuing to develop. “At 66, Nigeria has come a long way.
Independence has offered us liberty and self-determination. We are also making considerable progress in nation building,” Olukoyede said. He described current development efforts as building blocks for the country citizens wanted, but warned that reform programmes needed to be accompanied by a strong commitment to fighting corruption.
Olukoyede urged Nigerians to reject compromises that could weaken national progress, saying the country would improve through purposeful action.
