Kebbi APC restores suspended state chairman after three months

The Kebbi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has reinstated Abubakar Kana-Zuru as its chairman, revoking a suspension imposed in June. The decision ends an interim arrangement under which Adamu Mudi Augie served as acting chairman, with party officials ordered to return the office to Kana-Zuru.
The All Progressives Congress in Kebbi State has reinstated its suspended chairman, Abubakar Kana-Zuru, after three months, the party announced on Thursday. State Publicity Secretary Isah Abubakar Assalafi announced the decision at a press conference at the APC secretariat in Birnin Kebbi. He said the State Working Committee had reviewed the circumstances surrounding Kana-Zuru’s suspension and revoked its earlier decision with immediate effect.
The suspension had been imposed through Resolution Number KSWC/010/2026 on June 20, 2026, according to the party. The APC said Kana-Zuru was now fully restored as state chairman, with all the powers, duties and responsibilities of the office. The decision also ends the interim arrangement under which Adamu Mudi Augie had served as acting chairman.
Assalafi said Augie would return to his substantive position as deputy state chairman. Party officials were directed to hand over all documents and affairs relating to the chairmanship to Kana-Zuru. The State Secretary was also instructed to communicate the resolution to the APC national headquarters for information and necessary action.
The party called on its organs, officials, members and stakeholders to recognise and respect the decision, which it said took immediate effect. The resolution was adopted at the APC state secretariat in Birnin Kebbi on October 1, 2026. The announcement did not provide further details about the circumstances that led to Kana-Zuru’s suspension or the reasons the working committee gave for reversing it.
