Police said he had been living under an assumed identity and was believed to have died. Jose was wanted in cases registered at police stations in Kannur Town, Thalassery, Ullikkal, Iritty and Palakkad, according to the report. He allegedly failed to appear before a court in connection with a Kannur Town case registered in 2008.
The Vadakara NDPS court declared him a proclaimed offender in 2013. The arrest was made by Operation Toofan, a special squad formed by Kannur District Police Chief Vijay Bharat Reddy. The operation took place near Visakhapatnam.
The investigation team was led by Kannur Assistant Commissioner of Police M.P. Azad and Narcotics ACP V.V. Manoj, The Hindu reported.
