The Karnataka Lokayukta has helped restore an 84-year-old woman’s land records after her properties were allegedly transferred through impersonation and a forged gift deed. Police arrested two people in connection with the case, and authorities have updated the 2026-27 revenue records to show her as owner and khatedar.

An 84-year-old woman’s properties in Karnataka’s Devanahalli taluk have been restored to her name after they were allegedly transferred through impersonation and a forged gift deed, following intervention by the Karnataka Lokayukta. The woman, Bharathi Lakshman Reddy, approached the Lokayukta after discovering that her land in Chikkatattamangala village had been transferred to another person. The disputed gift deed was allegedly registered at the Hoskote Sub-Registrar’s Office on August 13, 2025.

The document transferred the properties to Shravan Kumar, identified in the case as the son of Lakshman Reddy. After receiving the complaint, the Lokayukta began an inquiry and directed the officials concerned to take action. Police subsequently arrested Lakshmi Devamma, who allegedly impersonated Bharathi Lakshman Reddy, and Shravan Kumar, described as the alleged beneficiary of the gift deed.

A chargesheet has also been submitted before the Lokayukta. Following the proceedings, revenue authorities restored Bharathi Lakshman Reddy’s name as owner and khatedar in the 2026-27 revenue records. The Doddaballapur Assistant Commissioner issued the relevant order on August 12, 2026.

The Lokayukta has also noted similar cases in which elderly citizens were allegedly targeted through fraudulent property documents. It directed senior officials in the Registration and Revenue departments to submit reports on preventive and punitive measures. The next hearing in the case is scheduled for November 25, 2026.

The allegations described in the report remain subject to the legal process.
