A road crash involving a Lexus Jeep 350 on Lagos’s Coastal Road has killed one person and seriously injured three others, according to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority. The vehicle reportedly lost control, struck a roadside pole and overturned near the Eko Hotel axis.

One person has died and three others have been seriously injured in a road crash involving a Lexus Jeep 350 on Lagos’s Coastal Road. The crash occurred on Friday, according to a statement signed by Adebayo Taofiq, director of public affairs and enlightenment at the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority. The vehicle was travelling inward towards Eko Hotel.

LASTMA said preliminary information indicated that the grey Lexus, registered as LSD 554 KV, lost control, hit a roadside pole and overturned. The crash resulted in three serious injuries and one death. LASTMA operatives monitoring traffic in the area moved to the scene, secured the affected section and helped facilitate emergency response.

Security personnel from Victoria Island also provided support. The three injured people were removed from the vehicle with assistance from Good Samaritans and taken to Duck-Yard Hospital within the Military Zone for urgent treatment, according to the authority. LASTMA officers later removed the damaged vehicle from the carriageway to prevent another collision and restore traffic movement along the route.

The agency’s General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, expressed sympathy to the family of the deceased and urged motorists to drive carefully. He said excessive speed, reckless driving and loss of control could have serious consequences. Bakare-Oki asked motorists and members of the public to report crashes, breakdowns, obstructions and other emergencies through LASTMA’s toll-free short code, 3367.
