Online dispute follows alleged affair between married gym instructor and feminist

An alleged affair between gym instructor Dennis Emmanuel and social media feminist Folakemi Martins has developed into a public dispute, with both sides offering sharply different accounts of the relationship and its aftermath. Emmanuel, who acknowledged having a sexual relationship with Martins, alleged in a lengthy post on X that she harassed and stalked him after he decided to end the relationship. He also said her actions had affected his reputation, marriage and family.

According to Emmanuel, the relationship began on May 9, 2026, after he told Martins that he was married and wanted a “side chic”. He claimed she accepted those terms, but later became persistent and demanded more from the relationship. Emmanuel shared screenshots that he presented as exchanges between the pair.

The messages included discussions about meeting for sex and complaints from Martins that he had neglected her and failed to show affection. Emmanuel said he ended the relationship because of what he described as aggressive and condescending behaviour. He further alleged that Martins and friends continued contacting him and his wife after the breakup.

In one post, he claimed that Martins was outside his home with unidentified men who were banging on his doors. He said he took the dispute online because it had moved beyond a private disagreement. Martins rejected his account in comments to Saturday PUNCH.

She said she had never agreed to be a side partner and was unaware that Emmanuel was married when their relationship began. She added that she was gathering evidence and pursuing the issue legally. Martins declined to provide further details, saying additional information would be released when permitted by the court.

The dispute has prompted reactions on X, with several users criticising Emmanuel for engaging in an extramarital affair and making the matter public.
