Nollywood actress Patience Ozokwor has expressed sadness after missing the funeral service of her late colleague Olu Jacobs, saying contractual obligations kept her in Ghana and prevented her from travelling to Nigeria. Jacobs was laid to rest on Friday, October 2, at a service attended by colleagues and other personalities who gathered to pay their final respects to the veteran actor. In a message shared on Instagram, Ozokwor said she was heartbroken not to be physically present.

She said she would have given anything to attend and that her thoughts were with Jacobs’s family, friends and colleagues. Ozokwor prayed that the funeral would proceed peacefully and that Jacobs’s legacy would endure. Although she could not attend in person, she said she was present in spirit and described him as a great legend.

Other figures from Nigeria’s film and political spheres also paid tribute. Actor Chiwetalu Agu said Jacobs was more than an actor and called him a giant of the Nigerian film industry, adding that he struggled to find words to express his grief. Peter Obi described Jacobs as an embodiment of the excellence of the Nigerian spirit and praised his contributions to the film and creative industries.

Obi said Jacobs’s life demonstrated talent, discipline, professionalism and dedication to his craft. Actress Rita Dominic called Jacobs an icon and legend, saying she was grateful to have worked with him and learned from him. Veteran actor Pete Edochie described Jacobs as his brother, praising his humour, peaceful nature and courage.
