President Murmu to attend Vijayawada Dasara events on October 14-15
President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to visit Vijayawada on October 14 and 15, attending special prayers at the Kanaka Durga temple and the National Saras Mela. Authorities are preparing security, parking, sanitation, medical and crowd-management arrangements for the Dasara celebrations.
President Droupadi Murmu will visit the Sri Durga Malleswara Swamyvarla Devasthanam on Indrakeeladri in Vijayawada on October 14 during the Dasara Navarathri Utsavams, officials said. She is scheduled to perform special pujas at the temple. On October 15, the President will participate in the National Saras Mela at Punnami Ghat on the banks of the Krishna, according to NTR District Collector G.

They also directed authorities to provide safe drinking water, sanitation and medical facilities for devotees.
Dhyana Chandra said staff would be deployed around the clock to maintain cleanliness at the temple and bathing ghats. Temple Executive Officer V.K. Seena Naik said preparations were under way to facilitate devotees’ darshan during the festival.
Police Commissioner Rajashekar Babu said 22 parking areas would be arranged and 3,500 police personnel deployed for the Dasara celebrations. Police will monitor crowds and security on Indrakeeladri and along queue lines using technology, while pickets will be placed at various points. The temple is to be decorated for the festival, with special pujas planned during the celebrations.
The officials’ preparations cover both the President’s programme and the expected movement of devotees during the Navarathri festivities.
