A dispute over rent and a restaurant lease in Madhapur escalated into allegations of property damage, assault, threats and road obstruction. Police registered separate cases after the tenant complained against the building owners and after the tenant’s group allegedly blocked a patrol vehicle during a protest.

A dispute involving a restaurant in Hyderabad’s Madhapur area has led to separate police cases after allegations of property damage, assault, threats and obstruction of a road. Mohammed Mansoor Ali, who said he had operated Lucky Restaurant near Pillar No. 1723 for six years, complained that parts of the premises were damaged with an earth mover on October 3.

According to his complaint, a worker alerted him to the alleged damage. Mansoor and his wife, Rehana Begum, then went to the restaurant, where they allegedly found building owners Hari, Ravi and others damaging the premises. The pan shop, tea point and bakery were among the facilities allegedly affected.

Mansoor said he and his wife were abused and threatened when they tried to intervene. Police said some women in the group allegedly assaulted Rehana. Mansoor also alleged that he was obstructed and that people attempted to take his mobile phone when he tried to record the incident.

Madhapur police registered a case against the building owners and others based on his complaint. Police said the dispute arose from the lease and unpaid rent, with Mansoor allegedly owing rent for several months. The owners were also accused of damaging the approach road and obstructing access to the restaurant.

A separate case was registered against Mansoor and others after a protest. Police said that at about 12.10 a.m. on October 3, the group sat on the road near the Indian Petrol Pump and obstructed a patrol vehicle, disrupted traffic and hindered police personnel.

Police also said the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India licence for Lucky Restaurant had been suspended on September 26 after an inspection found food-safety and hygiene deficiencies.
