Taraba governor and Tompolo back Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid

Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas and High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, known as Tompolo, have endorsed President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign. Their support was announced at the launch of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement’s grassroots mobilisation effort in Jalingo, where organisers urged supporters to promote the administration’s policies across the state.
Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas and High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, have rallied support for President Bola Tinubu’s bid for re-election in 2027. The endorsement was announced during the launch of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement’s grassroots mobilisation campaign in Jalingo, according to a statement made available to PUNCH Online on Saturday. Tompolo, who is the movement’s grand patron, was represented at the event by High Chief Kestin Pondi.
He said the Tinubu administration’s reforms required time to take effect and urged supporters to extend the campaign beyond formal political gatherings. “Every policy needs time to consolidate; every policy needs time to show dividends. Every policy reformation will always come with its own challenges,” Tompolo said.
He called on members of the movement to take their message to homes, religious centres, wards, local government areas and polling units. Tompolo also said Taraba was benefiting from Federal Government policies and argued that continuity would help preserve gains made so far. Kefas said residents were already seeing the effects of Tinubu’s administration through projects being implemented in the state.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda and pledged strong support for the President’s campaign. “Taraba is ready. You don’t need to tell the people of Taraba State what the President is doing; they are seeing what the President is doing through me,” the governor said.
He added that Taraba would turn out in large numbers to support Tinubu in 2027, saying the state was ready for the President. The movement’s national coordinator, Sunday Asuku, said the organisation had come to Taraba to expand its mobilisation efforts and seek support for both Tinubu and Kefas. The event included the donation of 25 campaign vehicles, generators and electronic speakers to support the movement’s grassroots activities.
