Telangana redraws parts of Hyderabad’s policing jurisdictions

The Telangana government has created a new Uppal Law and Order Zone and three divisions while adjusting police station, traffic and women’s safety jurisdictions across Hyderabad, Malkajgiri and Cyberabad. The Home Department said the changes followed GHMC restructuring and were intended to improve supervision, response times and law-and-order management.
The Telangana government has revised policing jurisdictions across Hyderabad and its suburbs, creating a new Uppal Law and Order Zone and three divisions while changing several police station and traffic boundaries. The Home Department issued three government orders on September 30, nine months after a major reorganisation notified in December 2025. The latest changes affect the Hyderabad, Malkajgiri and Cyberabad commissionerates.
The government said the exercise was undertaken in view of the restructuring of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation. It cited policing efficiency, supervision, response time and law-and-order management as the reasons for modifying the map. The largest structural changes are in Malkajgiri.
The Begumpet Law and Order Zone has been absorbed into the Malkajgiri zone, while a new Uppal Zone has been created. Alwal, Uppal and Medipally have been constituted as new law-and-order divisions. The reorganisation changes jurisdictions involving Kushaiguda, Cherlapally, Nagole, Tukaramgate and Vanasthalipuram.
Addagutta ward will remain with Tukaramgate police station. Vanasthalipuram station will additionally cover wards 41 and 42, Hastinapuram and B.N. Reddy Nagar, which were earlier under Meerpet station.
Secunderabad Railway Station will remain with Gopalapuram police station of the Malkajgiri Commissionerate. Begumpet police station will retain the road leading to the old airport and the adjacent area. Traffic policing has also been altered.
A new Uppal Traffic Division will include Uppal, Kushaiguda and Ghatkesar stations. In Hyderabad, Khairatabad has been divided into Khairatabad-I and Khairatabad-II zones, while other station and division alignments have been revised. Santosh Nagar Division has been renamed Charminar Division.
The orders also realign the Women Safety Wing, zonal cyber units and several Cyberabad jurisdictions, including areas around Ameenpur, Patancheru, Kollur, Narsingi and Mokila.
