His Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said Tinubu departed Paris for Lagos on Tuesday. According to Onanuga, Tinubu is expected to hold strategic meetings with political leaders and associates over several days. The Presidency said the discussions would be held in preparation for the 2027 elections.
It said the President chose to travel first to Lagos to honour the memory of the late MKO Abiola, who won the June 1993 presidential election and was a prominent figure in Nigeria’s democratic struggle. Tinubu is expected to attend the October 1 premiere of a film about Abiola at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre in Iganmu, Lagos. His working vacation also included a private dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris.
