Two Moinabad municipal officials held in alleged ₹75,000 bribery case

The Anti-Corruption Bureau says it caught two Moinabad Municipality officials allegedly accepting a ₹75,000 bribe to refrain from taking coercive action against a construction. The accused were identified as Town Planning Officer Gundu Vani and Yelamoni Sudarshan, a former secretary of Moinabad gram panchayat who is currently working as a senior assistant in the municipality on deputation. ACB officials from City Range-2 conducted the trap on September 30.

According to the agency, Ms. Vani allegedly demanded the money and accepted it through Mr. Sudarshan in return for an official favour.

The ACB said the amount was recovered from Mr. Sudarshan’s possession at his instance during the operation. The agency alleged that both officials acted improperly and dishonestly in the discharge of their duties in order to obtain an undue advantage.
