Zamfara Governor Dauda Lawal has launched construction of a 95km road in Tsafe Local Government Area, saying it will improve the movement of farm produce and strengthen security operations. The project will connect several communities and include five bridges, with two construction companies handling separate phases.

Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has launched construction of a 95km road intended to reconnect farming communities in Tsafe Local Government Area and improve security operations in the area. Speaking at the project’s flag-off on Sunday, Lawal said the road would run through ‘Yandoton Daji, Cediya, Doka, ‘Yan Waren Daji, Hayin Alhaji Bedi, Unguwar Joji and ‘Yankuzo before reaching Tsafe. The project will include five bridges.

The governor said construction would be carried out in two phases. SKY Construction Company was awarded the first phase, covering 47km, while Setraco Construction Company Limited would execute the remaining 48km. Lawal said the communities along the route were predominantly agricultural and that the road would support the state economy by making it easier to move goods.

He also linked the project to efforts to restore peace and stability in Zamfara. According to the governor, the improved route would increase the mobility of security agencies and their ability to respond to threats or attacks. He described the road as part of a wider infrastructure renewal programme across the state.

Lawal said other projects under way included the Gusau–Magami–Dansadau Road, the Zurmi–Rukudawa Road and the Mallamawa–Bukkuyum Road, with a spur to Masamar Mudi. He said the projects were intended to reconnect communities and address longstanding infrastructure gaps. He directed the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure to supervise the project rigorously, ensure quality control and enforce approved engineering standards.

Lawal also said contractors would be expected to deliver value for money and complete the work within the agreed timelines.
