Actor Mr Latin declines comment after Baba Ijesha accuses him of neglect

Nigerian actor Bolaji “Mr Latin” Amusan has declined to respond to allegations from fellow actor Olanrewaju “Baba Ijesha” Omiyinka that he neglected him after his release from prison. Baba Ijesha made the allegations in a video recorded at an event in Ogun State. He accused Mr Latin, the national president of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria, of distancing himself and described him as an opportunist.

The actor said he had regarded Mr Latin as a close friend and brother. He alleged that he called him more than 25 times after his release, but that Mr Latin replied that he was in a meeting and did not subsequently maintain contact. Baba Ijesha said he had expected Mr Latin either to host him or collect him after his release.

He nevertheless said he did not take offence because he had been the person who initiated contact. He also described Mr Latin as a good person who was fearful of trouble. Premium Times contacted Mr Latin for a response.

He confirmed that he had seen the video and was aware of the allegations, but said: “I saw the video, but I have no comment or reaction to it.” Baba Ijesha was released from prison in November 2025 after his conviction for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl. The source material says he was later included on Lagos State’s sex-offenders register. Since his release, he has made public appearances with prominent Nigerians, including visits to National Union of Road Transport Workers president Musiliu “MC Oluomo” Akinsanya and the Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Ogunwusi.

The actor and his wife, fashion entrepreneur Abiodun Tokunbo, announced the birth of a baby boy in June. The announcement drew attention because the couple had not previously spoken publicly about their relationship.
