He also honoured members of the Armed Forces and security agencies who had died defending Nigeria. Akpabio said the sacrifices of the fallen gave meaning to the freedom and unity being celebrated, adding that their families should be remembered with gratitude.

Akpabio urged Nigerians to regard the country’s ethnic, cultural and religious diversity as a source of strength and to preserve peace collectively.
He also said the National Assembly would continue supporting measures under President Bola Tinubu aimed at strengthening Nigeria and improving people’s lives. He called for public service based on integrity, compassion and devotion. Akpabio said independence was an inheritance that each generation must renew.
He urged citizens to celebrate with gratitude, extend friendship to one another and remain committed to the possibilities before the country.
