Defending champions Brisbane beat Gold Coast 20-8 to reach a fifth consecutive NRLW grand final. The Broncos led 20-4 at half-time, extended their winning run to five matches and will face Sydney Roosters next Sunday. The match will be Brisbane veteran Ali Brigginshaw’s final before retirement.

Defending champions Brisbane have reached a fifth consecutive NRLW grand final after defeating Gold Coast 20-8 at Robina. The Broncos dominated the opening half and led 20-4 at the interval. The victory extended their winning streak to five matches and preserved their record of winning each of the four grand finals they have contested.

Brisbane will face the Sydney Roosters in next Sunday’s decider. The teams also met in last year’s final, when the Broncos won 22-18. Full-back Tamika Upton scored the opening try after beating three defenders.

Jesse Southwell helped create a try for Romy Teitzel, while Lauren Dam and Julia Robinson also scored for Brisbane. Gold Coast’s Destiny Mino-Sinapati and Sienna Lofipo scored the Titans’ tries. Lofipo left the field with a suspected broken jaw late in the first half, while full-back Lily Patston was removed in the second half after a category-one head-injury assessment.

The Titans had won their previous 10 matches and were praised for their season under coach Karyn Murphy, but could not reproduce that form in the preliminary final. The grand final will be the last match for Broncos veteran Ali Brigginshaw before retirement.
