Ogun police arrest 11, recover firearms and suspected stolen vehicles

The Ogun State Police Command says it arrested 11 suspects and recovered two suspected stolen vehicles, three firearms and 25 ATM cards during operations across the state between September 16 and 26, 2026. Police spokesman Oluseyi Babaseyi said detectives also recovered mobile phones and electrical materials. Eight vehicles were impounded during a “No Parking” operation around the Sagamu Interchange Bridge for obstructing traffic.

At Owode Egba, officers recovered a commercial TVS motorcycle allegedly stolen from its owner. Rasheed Abdul and Saula Meshinoye were arrested in connection with the case, while police said an alleged accomplice, Saheed, remained at large. The Olorunda Division separately arrested Mutiu Gafar, 19, and Fatai Obasanmi, 37, after allegedly intercepting stolen electrical materials on Ayetoro Road.

Police said another suspect, Tosin, escaped. The recovered items included electrical wiring, a change-over box and a circuit breaker box. SWAT officers from Abule-Iroko arrested three people after stopping an unregistered tricycle and motorcycle near Dalemo, Ota.

Police said preliminary investigations linked them to alleged vehicle theft around Ijoko. The Igbesa Division arrested Ameachine Anthony, 45, over an alleged N2.5m fraud and recovered 25 ATM cards and phones. Police said the case involved newly acquired SIM cards and bank accounts allegedly used for fraudulent transactions.

In another operation, police recovered a pump-action rifle and two locally made pistols after arrests linked to a suspected cult gathering. A Safira vehicle was also recovered in Ijebu-Ode, while the eight impounded vehicles were scheduled for prosecution on September 28.
