Ogogo’s daughters endorse Yayi at Ogun community exercise

Lima and Kira Ogogo, daughters of late Yoruba actor Taiwo Hassan, have expressed support for the governorship ambition of All Progressives Congress candidate Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, ahead of the 2027 Ogun State election. The sisters declared their support during a community clean-up exercise held on Saturday in Abeokuta, the state capital. The event was organised by the Gen Z for Yayi support group, whose participants wore branded T-shirts and promoted the exercise on social media.

In a video shared by the group on Instagram, Lima said the initiative was intended to encourage young people to contribute to their communities rather than only complain about government. She said the participants were demonstrating support for Adeola while helping to keep their community clean. “So we’re here to show our support to Senator Adeola Olamilekon Yayi,” Lima said, adding, “Yayi ni joor.” Kira also announced her support in a separate video, describing the exercise as the sisters’ way of backing the “incoming governor of Ogun State”.

The endorsement follows the death of their father, who was a prominent figure in Yoruba-language cinema and came from Ilaro in Ogun State. Yayi had previously said he planned to appoint Ogogo as his Special Adviser on Tourism and Culture, with cabinet rank, if elected governor. Adeola made that disclosure during a condolence visit to Ogogo’s family in Ilaro.

He described the actor as an elder brother and said Ogogo’s acting experience and knowledge of traditional culture informed the proposed appointment. Following the actor’s death, there have been calls for Adeola to consider appointing one of his daughters to the position. Ogogo, whose real name was Taiwo Hassan, died on August 23, 2026, aged 66.
