Congress leaders in Koppa have accused BJP figures of filing Form-7 applications seeking the deletion of 243 names from the electoral roll. They say the applications contained false information and targeted minority residents, while the BJP taluk president reportedly withdrew his request after re-verifying the names. The allegations were not independently established in the material.

Congress leaders staged a protest in Koppa, Chikkamagaluru district, on Saturday, alleging that BJP leaders had filed Form-7 applications seeking the deletion of 243 names from the electoral roll. The protesters urged the tahsildar to register a case against BJP taluk president H.K. Dinesh and others.

Sudhir Kumar Murolli, who led the protest, alleged that the applications claimed the people had moved out of the taluk even though they remained residents. Murolli further alleged that the names targeted belonged to members of minority communities. He specifically mentioned Vazir Khan, a schoolteacher who also works as a Booth Level Officer for the Kattemane booth, and claimed that his name was sought for deletion because of his community.

Congress workers submitted a memorandum to the taluk authorities and demanded action against those who had allegedly provided false information. The report attributes the allegations to Congress leaders and does not include a response from the BJP leaders named. Murolli said Dinesh withdrew his application after Congress raised the issue and protested outside the Chief Electoral Officer’s office in Bengaluru.

According to Murolli, Dinesh said he had rechecked the names and found that they had been correctly entered on the electoral roll. Congress interpreted the withdrawal as an admission that incorrect information had been filed. The source material does not state whether the tahsildar registered a case or whether an official inquiry was ordered.

The dispute has political significance because Koppa is part of the Sringeri Assembly constituency, where the previous election was decided by 201 votes. Congress candidate T.D. Raje Gowda defeated BJP candidate D.N.

Jeevaraj in that contest. The protest centres on the alleged use of Form-7 applications to seek electoral-roll deletions. The material records the Congress account and the reported withdrawal but provides no independent verification of the allegations or the final status of the disputed names.
