Former Ondo PDP governorship aspirant leads supporters into APC

Former Peoples Democratic Party governorship aspirant in Ondo State Bosun Arebuwa has defected to the All Progressives Congress with other PDP members. Arebuwa, who contested the PDP ticket before the 2024 Ondo governorship election, led the group at a defection ceremony at the International Culture and Event Centre in Akure on Friday. He said the decision was motivated by what he described as the performance of President Bola Tinubu.
Arebuwa said he and his supporters had joined the APC to support Tinubu’s bid for a second term. The former aspirant said the group included supporters from more than 3,000 political units and 203 wards across Ondo State’s 18 local government areas. He pledged to use his experience and resources to work for the APC in the 2027 election.
Arebuwa said backing Tinubu was the group’s main objective in joining the ruling party. He described the President’s performance as creditable and said the defectors were prepared to campaign for the APC and its candidates. Receiving the new members on behalf of the Ondo APC leadership, Chief Olusola Oke urged them to return to their wards and local government areas to work for the party.
Oke described Arebuwa as an influential politician whose entry would strengthen the APC’s activities in the state. He welcomed the defectors and said they would not regret joining the party.
