Nigerian DisCos bill ₦250.79bn of electricity received in July
Nigeria’s electricity distribution companies billed ₦250.79bn worth of power in July 2026 after receiving energy valued at ₦333.94bn, leaving an ₦83.15bn gap, according to the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission. The commission said the industry recorded billing efficiency of 75.10 per cent during the month.
The regulator reported that the DisCos collected ₦205.53bn in revenue in July. That represented collection efficiency of 81.95 per cent, based on the amount billed during the period. NERC said the industry’s overall revenue recovery performance was 74.91 per cent.
The measure reflects the relationship between the value of energy received and the revenue ultimately recovered by the distribution companies. Eko Electricity Distribution Company recorded the strongest recovery efficiency among the DisCos, at 94.67 per cent. Port Harcourt DisCo followed with 84.95 per cent, while Benin DisCo recorded 79.15 per cent.
The commission said the factsheet was intended to provide stakeholders with information on the financial performance of distribution companies and developments in the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry.
