A foundation stone has been laid for a new Mission Shakti-One Stop Centre in Bheemili, one of 11 such facilities sanctioned across the State. Officials say the centre will bring medical, legal, police, counselling and temporary shelter services together for women and girls facing violence or harassment.
A foundation stone has been laid for a new Mission Shakti-One Stop Centre, known as Sakhi, at the Community Health Centre premises in Bheemili. The facility is among 11 new One Stop Centres sanctioned across the State. The centre is intended to provide women and girls facing violence, harassment, domestic violence or sexual harassment with access to several support services at one location.
The foundation-laying ceremony was held on Thursday and organised by the Women and Child Welfare Department. Joint Collector G. Vidyadhari performed the bhoomi puja and laid the foundation stone.
She said the centre would coordinate assistance from relevant departments so that victims could receive medical care, police protection, free legal aid, psychological counselling and temporary shelter. Vidyadhari urged women and girls facing emergencies to use the 181 women’s helpline, the 112 emergency service and One Stop Centre services. She said locating the facility at the Bheemili Community Health Centre would make protection and support more accessible to residents of Bheemili and nearby areas.
The centre is planned as a single point of access for services that may otherwise require victims to approach different departments. The source material did not provide a construction timeline, estimated cost or planned opening date. Officials present included Bheemili Revenue Divisional Officer K.
Sangeeth Madhur, District Coordinator of Health Services Narendra Singh, Zonal Commissioner M. Vijay Kumar, ICDS project director Ch. Santoshi Kumari and other officials from the revenue, health, welfare and local administration departments.
