India extends Andhra Pradesh voter-roll revision to October 3

India’s Election Commission has extended the house-to-house enumeration stage of its Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in Andhra Pradesh until July 24. The draft roll will now be published on July 31, with claims and objections accepted through August 30 before final publication on October 3.
India’s Election Commission has extended the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in Andhra Pradesh, moving the final publication of the revised voter list to October 3, 2026. The Commission announced on Tuesday that house-to-house enumeration by Booth Level Officers would continue until July 24, instead of ending on July 14. The draft electoral roll will be published on July 31, while the claims and objections period will run until August 30.
The revised schedule followed a request from Andhra Pradesh’s Chief Electoral Officer in a letter dated July 14. Political parties had also sought additional time for the ongoing revision process. Under the new timetable, officials will dispose of claims and objections between July 31 and September 28.
The final electoral roll will be published on October 3, using July 1, 2026, as the qualifying date. Polling-station rationalisation and re-arrangement are also due to be completed by July 24. The Commission directed officials to publicise the changes widely and formally notify political parties and other stakeholders.
The extension provides additional time to complete work associated with the revision across the state. According to the Chief Electoral Officer’s bulletin, forms had been distributed to all 4.16 crore electors by July 13, and 98.32% had been digitised. Parvathipuram Manyam, Alluri Sitharama Raju and Eluru districts had completed the work.
The remaining digitisation was concentrated in several districts. NTR had completed 95.43% of its forms, Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore 95.67%, Y.S.R. Kadapa 96.40% and Visakhapatnam 96.56%.
Together, those districts accounted for most of the nearly seven lakh forms still awaiting entry. The revised schedule gives the state’s 46,397 Booth Level Officers more time to finish the digitisation and complete the electoral-roll process.
