Indian investigators prepare chargesheet in Gem Granites POCSO case

A Special Investigation Team investigating a POCSO case involving Gem Granites owner Veeramani is expected to file its chargesheet before the Special Court for POCSO cases next week, police sources said. The case was initially registered in October 2025 after a child-rights activist received a pen drive from an unidentified person. The device reportedly contained a video purportedly showing Veeramani sexually assaulting a minor girl.

Police later filed a closure report, citing difficulties in identifying the girl. The Special POCSO Court rejected that report and ordered further investigation. The case was subsequently reinvestigated.

Police arrested Veeramani, 84, along with Shanthi, 60, and her husband, Mahendra Simhan, 63. Ganesh, who had worked as an assistant at Gem Granites for 23 years, was also arrested. Police identified the victim shown in the video, according to the report.
