Athletes from Karnataka contributed four gold, three silver and two bronze medals to India’s performance at the 2026 Asian Games in Japan. The State improved its gold-medal tally from Hangzhou, while officials are preparing to honour the medal winners later this week.

Athletes from Karnataka returned from the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, with four gold, three silver and two bronze medals, according to The Hindu. The four gold medals represented an improvement on the State’s contribution at the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, where Karnataka athletes won three golds. The State also secured two bronze medals in Japan, after winning none in that category at the previous edition.

Pranavi Urs won gold in the women’s individual golf competition. M.R. Poovamma was part of India’s victorious women’s 4x400m relay team, while H.S.

Mohith won gold in men’s hockey. Shreyanka Patil also claimed gold in women’s cricket. Poovamma and Pranavi added silver medals in the women’s 4x400m mixed relay and women’s golf team event respectively.

Golfer Aditi Ashok joined Pranavi on the podium in the team competition. The other silver medal was won by shooter Tilottama Sen in the women’s 50m rifle three positions event. The State’s bronze medallists were badminton player Ayush Shetty, who competed in the men’s team event, and S.S.

Sneha, who was part of the women’s 4x100m mixed relay team. Karnataka athletes won four silver medals at Hangzhou, one more than at Aichi-Nagoya. However, the increase in gold and bronze medals meant the State improved its overall performance, according to the report.

The State government is planning a felicitation ceremony later this week. Sources close to Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar said the medal winners are likely to be invited and honoured on behalf of the government.
