Water taxis, boat tours and kayaking activities will resume in the Muziris region from October 4, with Kerala Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan scheduled to launch the services at North Paravur. The project will operate from 14 jetties and is intended to expand heritage tourism while supporting local livelihoods.

Water taxis, heritage boat tours and kayaking services will resume in Kerala’s Muziris region from Sunday, October 4, according to the Muziris Heritage Project. Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan is scheduled to launch the services at the Thattukadavu Boat Jetty in North Paravur.

The vessels will operate from 14 boat jetties across the North Paravur-Kodungallor area on the Ernakulam-Thrissur border. The programme will include 25 single- and double-seater kayaks for visitors and water-sports enthusiasts. Muziris Projects Limited will also offer package tours covering heritage locations spread across the region.

The announced packages include four-hour tours of the Paliam cluster and the Kottayil Kovilakom cluster. Further details are available through the contact number provided by the project, 90208-64649. Shine K.S., managing director and chief executive officer of the Muziris Heritage Project, said the services formed part of the State government’s projects for the region.

He said the aim was to develop the project to international standards and attract more heritage visitors, including domestic and foreign travellers. Shine said the boat tours and kayaking activities could contribute to the socio-economic development of young people, artists and others in the region. He also said the long-pending renovation of museums was expected to accelerate after the government formed committees for the work.

According to the project’s leadership, the broader aim is to make the Muziris Heritage Project an internationally recognised attraction within a year. The source material does not provide details of ticket prices or the number of daily services.
