Nigeria will face Guinea-Bissau in a 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier after a 2-1 comeback against Madagascar. Premium Times identifies Moses Usor, Calvin Bassey, Stanley Nwabali and Simon Moses as players who could shape the away match, combining recent form, defensive responsibility, goalkeeping and experience.

Nigeria return to 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying action against Guinea-Bissau on Tuesday, seeking a second consecutive victory after their 2-1 comeback against Madagascar. Premium Times says the match could be influenced by four players: Moses Usor, Calvin Bassey, Stanley Nwabali and Simon Moses. The assessment comes after Nigeria showed both attacking promise and defensive weaknesses in the Madagascar match.

Usor scored four minutes into his Super Eagles debut, cutting past two defenders before finishing with his left foot. His pace and direct running offered Nigeria an additional attacking option. The LASK winger also helped his club win the Austrian league and cup double last season.

Bassey was among Nigeria’s more assured performers against Madagascar, although he was involved in the defensive lapse that led to the opponents’ goal. Against Guinea-Bissau, he is expected to help organise the defence against attackers including Beto, Mama Baldé and Franculino Djú. Nwabali returned to goal for the first time since the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations third-place match and made a significant one-on-one save against Rayan Raveloson.

Another strong performance could strengthen his position in the competition with Maduka Okoye. Simon marked his 100th Nigeria appearance against Madagascar and added energy after coming off the bench. Premium Times says his pace and ability to beat defenders could support a more attacking setup alongside debutant George Ilenikhena.

Nigeria’s coach Eric Chelle will seek a sharper and more complete performance in Bissau.
