Nine Andhra Pradesh students leave for Russia for metallurgy training

The first group of nine Andhra Pradesh students has begun a free 10-month metallurgy programme in Russia under an India-Russia government-to-government initiative. The students will receive training, accommodation, food and stipends, while eligible graduates may later be considered for jobs offering an expected monthly salary of 80,000 Russian rubles.
Nine students from Andhra Pradesh have left for Russia to undertake a 10-month vocational training programme in metallurgy facilitated by the Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation. The students departed from Bhogapuram International Airport on Friday under an India-Russia government-to-government initiative supported initially by the Ministry of External Affairs, APSSDC said in a statement released on Saturday. The first batch comprises seven diploma holders in metallurgy and two candidates with Industrial Training Institute qualifications.
They were selected through screening, assessment and document verification. Training will be provided free of cost at Pervouralsky Metallurgical College in Russia. The Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs will provide accommodation and food, while each student will receive a monthly stipend of 24,000 Russian rubles.
APSSDC is responsible for mobilisation, selection and documentation. The Russian organisation will support programme arrangements, and the college will provide the vocational instruction. APSSDC has also signed a Letter of Intent with the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs to strengthen international vocational education and training opportunities.
Cybersteel has been identified as a potential employment partner after the training. Students who complete the programme and meet the company’s eligibility and employment requirements may be considered through its recruitment process. The expected salary for eligible positions is 80,000 Russian rubles a month.
APSSDC Managing Director and CEO G. Ganesh Kumar congratulated the students and urged them to make full use of the programme. He asked them to develop their technical, language and professional skills while maintaining discipline and professionalism in an international setting.
The initiative is intended to give participants advanced technical skills and international industry exposure, preparing them for opportunities in the global metallurgical sector.
