Police receive at least 25 complaints after immigration firm chief’s arrest
Police in Kochi say at least 25 people have complained against an immigration services firm after the arrest of its founder and chief executive, Parvathy Maya Shaji. Police have so far registered two cases against the firm and people associated with it. Shaji, identified on the company’s website as founder and chief executive of Amster Overseas Private Limited, was arrested on Thursday after being detained on her arrival from abroad at Thiruvananthapuram. The two registered cases concern allegations by people from Erumapetty in Thrissur and Mamala in Ernakulam.
They said they were cheated after being promised jobs in Armenia and Poland. According to a first information report registered on January 10, a complainant alleged that the firm took ₹6,06,000 in 2025 after promising a warehouse job in Poland. The case names Shaji, the company, general manager Aju K.
Mathew and coordinator Abhijith S. Nair as accused. In a separate complaint, an Erumapetty resident alleged that the firm cheated her husband of ₹4 lakh in December 2023.
The promised employment was in Armenia, with an advertised monthly salary of ₹1.5 lakh. That FIR was registered on August 22, 2026. The second case also names Shaji’s husband, Aneesh Menon, along with Abhijith, Mathew and Vishnu Vijayan as accused.
The allegations have not been tested in court. A court has granted police custody of Shaji until 11 a.m. on Saturday.
Officers said further action would follow her interrogation and the examination of complaints made by other people who used the firm’s services.
