Two killed and four injured in suspected cult clash in Osogbo

Two people were killed and four others injured in a shooting suspected to have involved rival cult groups in Osogbo, Osun State, police said on Friday. The incident occurred around 5pm near a lounge in the Oke Baale area, around Owoeba and along the Osogbo-Ilesa Road. Police said the two victims died at the scene.
A resident told The PUNCH that gunshots and fighting were heard while the victims were drinking at the lounge. The resident said attackers subdued and killed the two men, one of whom was struck on the head and another who was shot. One of the dead victims was identified as “Small Rugged”, although police said his other names were not yet known.
A police van was later seen conveying two bodies along Station Road in Osogbo. The Osun State Police Command spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi, confirmed the deaths and said four other people sustained gunshot injuries. Police officers took the injured victims to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Ojelabi said Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Zungura had directed tactical teams to move into the area and arrest those responsible for what he described as the attack. The command has not announced any arrests. The circumstances leading to the clash, including the identities of the suspected groups and the precise sequence of events, remained under investigation at the time of the report.
