Pride of Rivers will attempt to extend their unbeaten start to the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League season when they host the Lagos-based outfit at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt on Sunday, October 4. The match will be the Port Harcourt club’s third in six days. Finidi George’s side played Ranchers Bees on Monday before travelling to Katsina United on Wednesday, leaving squad depth and recovery central to their preparations.

Pride of Rivers have collected three wins and three draws from six matches. The run has taken them to second place with 12 points, one behind leaders Rangers. Their latest match ended 1-1 at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium.

Samson Olasupo gave the visitors the lead shortly after half-time, but former Pride of Rivers midfielder Sani Mubarak equalised for Katsina United with a deflected free-kick. The Lagos side also played during the week, drawing 0-0 with Sporting Lagos at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena. That result left them with eight points from six games, comprising two wins, two draws and two defeats.

The fixture therefore brings together teams seeking to strengthen their early-season positions. Pride of Rivers will look to protect their unbeaten record and maintain pressure on Rangers, while the visitors will seek a positive away result. With both clubs coming off midweek matches, rotation, stamina and finishing could shape the contest.
